Toivo Studios is a co-living concept for the present-day need for temporary, communal housing. The building provides a variety of rooms (sizes S, M and L) as well as a versatile collection of shared common spaces such as co-working space, library, gym, laundry room, shared kitchen and saunas.

Toivo Studios is located downhill from the historical Gransinmäki inn and continues the legacy of the area as a place for stopping by and staying over. The building is split into two wings that enclose a sheltered courtyard in the middle. Architectural starting point for the project was fitting into the historically significant surroundings. The building is placed on the eastern side of the plot, to provide easy access from the Leppävaara center and to protect the historical monuments on the western side of the plot as well as the views from Thorstorp.

The main facade material is wood, painted red on the outside to match the Falun red of the surrounding buildings and white on the courtyard side to give a lighter appearance. The parking structure is covered with dark grey wooden panels and lattices for vines.

The interior architecture draws inspiration from the concept of the building as a modern inn. The colour scheme of the facades is mirrored in the interior as well. The colors and materials of the common spaces are natural and light, to aim for a Scandinavian feeling.
